Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango has undergone a hernia operation

Everton should be without the services of midfielder Tyler Onyango for their FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Frank Lampard told the press on Friday that the 19-year-old man underwent minor surgery on his hernia.

That means he will not be included in the squad, including Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “He (Onyango) had a minor operation on his hernia.”

Midfield suffering?

Onyango is a player known for his “exquisite” positioning so he would certainly have been among the few to get a chance against Palace.

While Premier League survival is more important than a cup run, Lampard would like a decent squad to choose from.

Alli and van de Beek will not be able to play, as they are already equal in the cup this season, which means that the toffees will automatically be short of two options.

Tom Davies and Fabian Delph are two other midfielders to be ruled out, while Allan has a three-match ban for a red card he received against Newcastle.

With only Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes’s recognized central midfielders, the Toffees have difficulties in that part of the field.

This could mean that Lampard goes to the academy to fill in the numbers and we could even see some surprises for him.

Hopefully the players will not play here as they will be needed for the business end of the Premier League season.
