Liverpool player ratings as Virgil van Dijk and two other good vs Nottingham Forest

Alisson Becker 6

Watch a few shots go off target before the break. Escape after a misunderstanding second half in an ambitious forest penalty claim.

Joe Gomez 8

Busy with Johnson in the early stages but quickly started to push forward and test Forest goalkeeper Horvath twice. Show very decently. Reserved.

Ibrahima Konate 8

A little nervous as Forest started off strong, but the physicality took longer to come into play. Enjoy the tussle with Davis and great tackle on Mighten later.

Virgil van Dijk 8

Spence in a heartbreaking quarrel in the first half on the flank kicked in and came in when needed. Almost effortlessly in some of his defense.

Kostas Tsimikas 6

Didn’t get much out of Spence, deliveries inconsistent and hard time defensively. Then cross in the right foot to pick up the winner.

Fabinho 7

Much to do in the opening stages as the Forest struggled fiercely but began to impose itself. Diligent and disciplined. Subbed.

Near Keita 7

Good pressure and passes put Liverpool on the front foot and right appetite with defensive work. Subbed.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 6

Played in Firmino for chance and started to show pace and power as the places opened up only to fall in the second half. Subbed.

Harvey Elliott 6

Some lively moments on the right side of the attack after taking away Garner’s bad challenge, but more periphery, the longer the game goes on. Subbed.

Roberto Firmino 7

Bewildered Forest with his ball control and skill between the lines, but far too clever when Horvath refused when clear first half. Pressed like a demon second half.

Diogo Jota 7

Prevented by good tackle from Worrall when within the first half and too often the ball bounced off him. Same story when the middle goes down shortly after the hour – and then shot. Typically Jota.

Jordan Henderson (for Keita 64) 6

Liverpool moved forward but the gaps started to open up a bit for Forest after the change to 4-4-2.

Luis Diaz (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 64) 6

Not much fun operating on the left flank and never got to grips with the pace of the game.

Takumi Minamino (for Elliott 64) 6

Worked hard to the right after its introduction.

Thiago Alcantara (for Fabinho 64) 7

Allow Liverpool to keep the ball a little better as things get hectic in the final quarter.
