1 killed and 3 car accident, man charged with DUI: State PD

SOUTHBURY, CT – A Collinsville Mann, Kyle St. Denis, 44, of Stonemeadow Lane was charged with driving while under the influence at the time of a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 Friday night, state police said. An unidentified person was killed in the crash.

State police said two vehicles were stopped on I-84 westbound at the right shoulder before exit 15 at Southbury. A vehicle was stopped due to a flat rear right tire, and a tow truck was stopped behind that vehicle, state police said.

Denis’ vehicle was traveling westbound on I-84 when it “hit over the white fog line in the right shoulder and hit the back of the tow truck,” state police said. Denis’ vehicle continued west and left the other vehicle, state police said.

“The impact pushed vehicle # 1 into the tow truck operator (pedestrian) as he tried to change the tire to vehicle # 1. Vehicle # 3 came to an uncontrolled final rest vis-à-vis the east and right shoulder,” said state police in an accident summary.

The Tow truck operator (pedestrian), an Oxford resident, was transported by Southbury EMS to Waterbury Hospital for possible minor injuries. St Denis was transported by Southbury EMS to Waterbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

St Denis was then taken into custody at Waterbury Hospital and transported to the Trop A barracks for processing, state police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs and not driving in the established lane. Denis was held in lieu of a $ 25,000 bond.
