Mason Appleton is back with the Winnipeg Jets.
The Jets have recruited the 26-year-old Seattle Kraken forward for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NHL draft.
Appleton, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, had six goals and 11 assists in 49 games for the Kraken this season. He was selected by Seattle last year to draft NHL expansion.
He returns to Winnipeg, the team he drafted in the sixth round (168th overall) in 2015.
During the first 138 games of his NHL career, Appleton scored 20 goals over three seasons with the Jets.
Beaulieu to Penguins, Little Contract to Coyotes
The Jets also traded defender Nathan Beaulieu to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday for a conditional seventh round in the 2022 NHL draft.
Currently on long-term injury reserve with a minor bodily injury, the 29-year-old has four assists and 24 games with the Jets in 2021-22.
Another injured jet is also on its way, sort of. Winnipeg has sent downtown Bryan Little’s contract to the Arizona Coyotes for a 2022 fourth-round draft pick.
Unsigned Jets prospect Nathan Smith was also part of the deal.
Little, who has not played since November 2019 after being hit in the head with a puck that left him with a perforated drum brake and dealing with dizziness, has two years on a contract that has an annual average value of just over $ 5.29 Has millions of US.
Beaulieu, meanwhile, is in the final season of a two-year contract with an average value of $ 1.25 million US.
The pending unlimited free agent was originally selected 17th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011 draft.
