Colchester vs. Forest Green Chance
It’s the international break and a quiet week for national football but Monday night brings us a Television League Two match, live on Sky Sports. We asked our lower league stalwart Adam Roberts to anticipate this vital clash for both clubs and he gave us his two best bets for the competition.
Colchester vs. Forest Green Tips
It might be forgiving to look at the recent form of these clubs. to ask whether the League Two table was upside down. Forest Green are still five points clear at the top of the table, but they are seven without a win and seven with just four points from a possible 21. Colchester meanwhile is all the way down to the 20th and just eight points above the drop zone , but under interim head coach Wayne Brown they could be described as in reasonable form – two wins, two draws and one of the last five losses. They must, however, collect more points to avoid being drawn back into a relegation battle.
Rovers, on the other hand, simply have to reverse this awful course of form; after losing just two of their 30 previous games, they have now lost three of their last six and are drawn in by the pursuit. Manager Rob Edwards will desperately claim three points at Colchester Community Stadium to recoup their promotion costs.
United are expected to leave an unchanged side here while Rovers are without a few players: Udoka Godwin-Malife on suspension and Dominic Bernard, Elliott Whitehouse, Opi Edwards, Vaughn Covil and Harvey Bunker all injured.
Odds correct as 2022-03-21 14:10 Chances are subject to change.
This was a difficult choice to make following the recent form of the two clubs involved. Anyway, I expect the class to finally blow through here in front of the SKY cameras and that Forest Green will show us that they still have an abundance of talent. The Green Army have a great goal difference of +48 over Colchester and have real firepower in the form of Matty Stevens and Jamille Matt who have 39 goals between them. Colchester are also in 20th place for a reason – mainly because of their defense – that has given 51 goals to this term.
At almost even I am ready to take on Forest Green for turning their bad form and taking the three points here as the main pick.
Jamille Matt for marking and mapping
Odds correct as 2022-03-21 14:10 Chances are subject to change.
My second choice is based on Rovers striker Jamille Matt. The lower league veteran has had a decent career with spells including Kidderminster, Fleetwood, Blackpool, Newport among others, but has finally found his reputation at Rovers. He scored 16 goals last season and has already taken over this campaign with 17 goals. He also formed a strong partnership with young Stevens. The 32-year-old Jamaican Matt was named the 2021 League Two player of the season and was rewarded with the club captain for his efforts. He was always present this year, starting every game for Forest Green.
In addition to creating goals and chances, Matt liked to sit on the pitch. He led comfortably to the side and fouls (73) and recorded the second most assists with six.
I doubled him down for marking and charting in the 90 minutes, which pays off an attractive look 19/1 at bet365.
If you like one of these selections then good luck and bet responsibly.
