Coronation Street’s Kirk had a different name in the beginning and our minds were blown

Coronation Street without Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) is simply unthinkable – the perspective is simply too much to bear.

However, Kirky was not always known as Kirky. In the beginning he had a different name and it did not suit him.

Classic Coronation Street continues to entertain and amuse us with past years (in my day …) and we were just introduced to Samia Longchambon’s character Maria Sutherland.

But when she met Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) for the love story of the era, she told him she had a brother named Mark.

Well, I never did!

Corriepedia explains that Mark Sutherland was a one-off before the bosses of the hit show decided to make Kirk a permanent character.

And permanently, the word is like the legend has been in the soap for over 20 years, which makes us with its impressively funny dark moments.

Kirk continues to marry Beth Tinker (Lisa George) and they have cemented themselves as one of the rare couples who do not fall victim to cheating.

Andy loves his fictional colleague just as much.

In 2019, he participated in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! and came in second place behind Jacqueline Jossa.
