Norwich City: Stuart Webber training to climb Mount Everest

Stuart Webber continues his preparations for climbing Mount Everest in 2023 with a series of planned trips through the rest of the year to train for the challenge.

The Norwich City Sports Director is taking on the task of scaling Everest next year with the help of his new charity The Summit Foundation, co-founded by his wife and new City Board member Zoe Ward, which aims to raise awareness and opportunities for young people create to help them achieve this. hirem Potential.

From 15 to 24 January this year, Webber traveled to Tanzania to pick up Mount Kilimanjaro and also to climb Mount Snowdon a month later to complete his winter fitness training ahead of his planned ascent to Everest next year.

In June, the city chief will travel to Ecuador to climb two mountains, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo.

Both mountains have the highest peaks in Ecuador and will require the use of ropes to protect against hidden cracks. Chimborazo’s peak is the farthest point from the center of the Earth.

In September, with the new season in full swing in the transfer window, Webber will use his free time to climb Mount Blanc – which has the highest point in the Alps. The head of town usually takes time off from his desk in Colney at the end of the summer window.

As the World Cup in Qatar begins towards the end of the year, Webber will spend three weeks away from home in the Everest region as he hopes to reach the summit of Island Peak, which stands at 6,189m.
