Russian carmaker Avtovaz has halted production in part

Top Russian carmaker Avtovaz said today that it will partially stop production at its factories in Togliatti and Izhevsk on March 21-25 due to lack of electronic parts.

Avtovaz, controlled by French carmaker Renault, periodically stopped production this month due to this shortage.

Renault produces two models – Logan and Sandero – for the Russian market in Izhevsk, together with LADA models.

Avovaz said the LADA Izhevsk plant will continue to produce its Vesta model and vehicles from the Renault B0 platform on March 21-22.

Avtovaz added that work on all assembly lines will take place on 23-25. March will be idled, however, that some production functions will continue during this period.

The French carmaker has suspended some operations at its own car assembly plant in Russia.

Renault, which will return to profits in 2021 after two years of losses, is one of the western companies most exposed to Russia, where it makes up 8% of its core revenue, according to Citibank.
