‘Groundwater: Making The Invisible Visible’ is the theme of World Water Day 2022, proposed by IGRAC. It will be presented at the opening session of the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal on March 21, 2022.

Officially, the idea of World Water Day was a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. as World Water Day from 1993.
And since 1993, this day has continued as an annual event to raise community awareness about the importance of water conservation.
World Water Day: Meaning
About 99% of all liquid freshwater on earth, groundwater offers companies a large number of benefits and opportunities. But experts say that due to anthropogenic dangers, major water pollution and pollution are now affecting the lives and food of billions of people. Thus, in the context of growing scarcity, the rich groundwater that contributes to the regular use of water for domestic use by the world population can no longer be overlooked.
For this reason, every year, this World Water Day is promoted worldwide by UN agencies to encourage people all over the world by organizing promotional activities to encourage people, address them with critical water issues and also coordinate with international activities. According to the UN website, the main goal of this day is “Achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Supporting water and sanitation for all by 2030.”
