Apple said all of its services, including the App Store, Apple TV and Apple Music, were recovered after an outbreak that began late Monday afternoon.
Nearly a dozen Apple services were down for thousands of users.
The company’s system status page showed 11 outbreaks, including podcasts, music and arcades. It said Apple is investigating the issue and services may be slow or unavailable.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, more than 4,000 users have reported problems getting Apple Music, while nearly 4,000 have reported problems with iCloud.
Users also had difficulty marking up with “Find My iPhone”, Apple Store, maps and support.
Downdetector tracks outbreaks by compiling status reports from various sources, including users submitting errors on its platform. The outbreak could affect a larger number of users.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The company responded to affected users on Twitter but it was unclear what caused the outbreak.
Bloomberg News reports that Apple’s company staff, who work from home and commerce, are also having problems. The outage has delayed product repairs, pickups and limited workers accessing internal websites, the report said.
According to the report, Apple told staff that the outbreak stemmed from the domain name system, or DNS – an Internet address book that allows computers to match website addresses with the correct server.
In a number of incidents over the last year, DNS problems have caused widespread outbreaks on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram, disrupting websites of airlines and banks for several hours.
