Chase’s Darragh Ennis marks five years since he first appeared on the show

Darragh Ennis has said it’s been a “weird” few years since his first appearance on The Chase. In 2017, the 41-year-old made his debut on the ITV Show as a participant.

Fast forward five years and he has been the latest addition to appear on the show as a chaser alongside Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan. Like all other quizzes on the show, he was nicknamed “The Menace”.

When Darragh first competed, he stole the show as he impressed viewers and producers with his quick responses against ‘The Sinnerman’. He managed to earn £ 9,000 in the Cash Builder round, which brought him back to the table for the finals with his team.

Even though his two other teammates took Paul’s lowest bids, which were earned from Darragh’s money. In the end, the team played for a total of £ 6,300, but lost.

In 2020, he was announced as the next Chase Star to participate in the show. His debut in the new role aired in November and attracted 4.9 million viewers, making it the most watched episode in the show’s history.

To highlight his Whirlwind TV series, which features the candidate as a full-time team member, he took to Twitter to highlight the opportunity.

On March 20, he tweeted to his 29.5k followers: “5 years ago I was up @ITVChase as a teammate. Article 50 was in trend less than #JusticeForDarragh. Today I’m filming #BeatTheChasersit’s been some weird years ”

People were quick to comment on his milestone tweet to congratulate him on his success.

Jim Dodsworth said: “You deserve all your success. You come across as a really nice man.”

Natasha added: “And what a fantastic addition you are to the band … just showing that life can change in a positive way with a switch !! Kudos to you Darragh”.

A fan named Ann commented: “I can not believe it’s 5 years, where’s the time gone? I still remember looking at your appearance as if it was a Saturday night show! I said to my other half “Wow this guy is amazing he’s like a chaser” and here you are a chaser and also my favorite chaser! “

One tweeted him to mark the other players on his team when he was a candidate. They said he was ‘definitely’ put in the wrong team and called them ‘miserable’.

Even if Darragh disagrees and is to save his old teammates. He answered and said, “Nah, they were nice people.”

The Chase continues to air on weekdays on ITV at 5 p.m.
