Network guarded Ben Simmons has to do with a herniated disc in the back, but he wants to make his season debut as soon as possible, reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Simmons received an epidural injection last week to relieve the severity. He has been dealing with back problems since February 2020, when he missed time due to a nerve impingement, Charania noted.
Simmons is expected to continue working on a return and would make his debut when he is completely cleared to play. However, it is not certain that this will happen this season.
We have more on the Nets:
- Nic Claxton has extended his playing time since LaMarcus Aldridge was sidelined earlier this month, noted Peter Botte of the New York Post. Aldridge will miss at least another week with the hip injury he has kept out of hand since March 6th. Claxton will be a limited free agent this summer if the team extends a qualifying offer.
- Kevin Durant Do not think the window of opportunity will close when the Nets reach the playoffs this season, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN. Durant, who signed a four-year, $ 198MM extension in August, says he expects Brooklyn to be the first competitor for the coming year. “If you look at it as if this is our only chance to ever do something special with this group – and other people who see it that way – then I can see why,” Durant said. “But to be honest, I signed up here for five years to play. You know what I’m saying? Look, of course this year is important, but no matter what happens this year, I want to do it again. And again. “
- Andre Drummond missed Monday’s match due to a non-COVID illness, Chris Milholen of Nets Daily tweets.
