(CNN)Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, the former Ohio State star who was ready to enter his fourth year in the NFL, has died, his head coach said in a Team statement released Saturday.
Haskins was 24 years old. Details of his death were not immediately available.
“I am devastated and speechless at the unfortunate death of Dwayne Haskins,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement. “Once he arrived in Pittsburgh, he quickly became part of our Steelers family and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community.
“Dwayne was a great teammate but even more of a great friend to so many. I’m really heartbroken.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Kalabrya and his entire family at this difficult time.”
