Former Birmingham MP Baroness Jill Knight of Collingtree has died aged 98.
She was a politician for over 50 years, representing Edgbaston as a Conservative for 31 years before being appointed to the House of Lords.
When she retired in 2016, she was the longest-serving MP.
She died peacefully surrounded by music, family and friends after a brief struggle with poor health, her family said.
She was instrumental in introducing Section 28, a clause of a local government law to stop a council promoting the doctrine of accepting homosexuality as a fake family relationship, and in 2018 apologized when the law hurt anyone.
