(Reuters)Portuguese chair umpire Daniel Zeferino has been banned from tennis for life after being found guilty of match-fixing and providing assistance, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said on Tuesday.
The London-based agency said Zeferino “manipulated” scores entered into his electronic scoring device at an ITF M15 event in 2020 to allow for “guaranteed wins” by betters on those points.
ITIA added that Zeferino did not deny the allegations and admitted his behavior in an interview.
He may no longer serve at tennis events sanctioned or sanctioned by an international tennis federation or national federation.
