A new app designed to help new dads and dads-to-be prepare for the arrival of their babies has launched.
DadPad is designed to provide fathers with knowledge and practical skills to help them and their newborns.
Launched by Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, it combines NHS and public health advice.
People living in Hull, East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire can download it from their app stores.
It is hoped that the app will give babies and their families the best start in life and provide new dads with guidance on developing their skills.
It includes how you hold your baby, how you support the mother with feeding, and how you take care of your mental health.
The DadPad was developed and piloted by Inspire Cornwall in 2012, director Julian Bose said, because “babies don’t have instructions.”
“Fathers have told us they want important information about what to expect and how to care for their baby.”
The app’s focus is on getting dads involved and making sure they’re involved to boost their confidence as they begin fatherhood, the developers said.
Dads living in East and North Yorkshire, including parts of Lincolnshire, can access the information, with localized tips shown.
