Amazon Prime members get free Grubhub+ subscription for a year

Amazon Prime now includes another benefit: free food delivery for one year.

Prime members will receive a free one-year subscription to Grubhub +, a food delivery app through which consumers in more than 4,000 cities can order from a large network of restaurants with no delivery charges.

“Prime already offers great value to members. These new offers and unique experiences show how a single subscription to Prime unlocks a whole world of potential,” Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, said in a statement.

Grubhub + subscription costs about $ 120 a year, but it won’t cost a penny to existing Prime members. Subscribers can activate the offer at amazon.com/grubhub.

The subscription waives shipping costs for food orders over $ 12 and also unlocks other discounts.

Amazon’s Amsterdam-based Just Eat Takeaway.com-owned partnership with Grubhub is expected to expand Grubhub’s membership base and market share as it competes with rival food delivery services. like DoorDash and Uber Eats.

“I am incredibly excited to announce this partnership with Amazon that will help Grubhub continue to fulfill our long-standing mission of connecting more diners with local restaurants,” Grubhub CEO Adam DeWitt said in a statement Wednesday. “Amazon has redefined convenience with Prime and we’re confident that this offering will expose many new diners to the value of Grubhub + while driving more business to our restaurant partners and drivers.”

Under the terms of the deal, Amazon will receive a 2% stake in Grubhub. An additional 13% stake in the company depends on key performance targets, including Grubhub’s acquisition of an undisclosed number of new customers through the agreement.
