Lego, the Danish toy giant, has announced it will indefinitely suspend operations in Russia due to “ongoing widespread disruptions”.
The company stopped shipping products to Russia in March after the invasion of Ukraine, but its stores stayed open as most competing retailers pulled out.
Lego said it will now end its partnership with Inventive Retail Group, which operates 81 stores on behalf of Lego.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for withdrawal from Russia was not mentioned.
A spokeswoman for Lego said: “When the Lego Group stopped deliveries to Russia in early March, we also stopped all commercial activities and put almost all of our employees on extended vacation.”
The company said it cut most of its Moscow-based team and “provided financial packages to 70 employees to help them find new opportunities.”
