Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has announced it will cut 13% of its workforce.
A total of 11,000 of the 87,000 employees worldwide are to be laid off.
In a statement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the cuts are “some of the most difficult changes we’ve made in Meta’s history.”
The news follows major layoffs at Twitter, which saw about half the workforce cut, and at other tech companies.
