Train drivers announce new January strike date

Train drivers from 15 railway companies will stage a new strike on January 5 in a long-running dispute over pay, according to the Aslef union.

The strike will take place between the strikes already announced by the railway union RMT, which will run between 3rd and 4th and 6th and 7th January.

Aslef said train drivers voted overwhelmingly to take action.

Their general secretary said: “We don’t want to go on strike, but the companies have pushed us here.”
