The boss of British gas owner Centrica will receive £3.7million in bonuses after the company posted record profits in 2022.
Chris O’Shea, who turned down a bonus last year, will also receive a £790,000 salary.
It comes as millions of homes are struggling to pay their energy bills and the company is under scrutiny for forcing prepayment meters into homes.
Centrica said Mr. O’Shea has delivered “shareholder value” and managed “challenging regulatory and policy issues.”
The company’s profits hit £3.3 billion in 2022 after oil and gas prices soared in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
