Meg Oliver is a CBS News correspondent based in New York City. Oliver reports on all CBS News programs and platforms, including “CBS Mornings,” “CBS This Morning: Saturday,” “CBS Evening News,” and the CBS News Streaming Network, CBS News’ premier streaming news service. 7.

Oliver is a veteran journalist with more than two decades of experience in reporting and anchoring. For the past two years, Oliver has been reporting a wide range of breaking news across the country, and worldwide, as a correspondent for CBS Newspath, the 24-hour news service. 7 days a week, for CBS stations around the world. Just this year, he has reported for CBS News broadcasts on the number of deaths occurring in unreported trampoline parks; in the fire of the diving boat that killed about three dozen people and included an interview with a man who lost five family members; about the devastating wildfire in Paradise, California. and on the opioid epidemic.

Reporting for Newspath from London, Oliver covered the London Bridge terrorist attack and nationally covered Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. He also reported a lot on the story of a Florida teenager who ran away with her football coach. After finding the teenager, Oliver was the only network correspondent who sat down with his parents.

She first joined CBS News in 2006 as a night presenter for “Up to the Minute” and as a correspondent for “The Early Show.” In 2009 she was a correspondent and presenter for ABC News. She returned to CBS News as a freelancer in 2015, where she also appeared on CBSN, covering breaking news such as the San Bernardino shooting and the murders of WDBJ-TV presenter Allison Parker and her videographer Adam Ward.

Prior to CBS News, Oliver was the presenter of 5pm, 6pm and 11pm on KGPE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Fresno, California. Prior to that, Oliver was a presenter and reporter for WKBD / WWJ-TV, a CBS-owned operation in her hometown of Detroit. Previously, he was a journalist in Seattle for Northwest Cable News. Oliver began her broadcasting career as a presenter and reporter for KCFW-TV in Kalispell, Montana.

Oliver’s journalism has earned him several honors from the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as the Associated Press Awards for breaking news and continued coverage.

Oliver graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Montana. She and her husband are the proud parents of three children.
