WASHINGTON, DC – Temple University Gymnastics tied for the fourth highest score (196,025) in team history and ranked first after Saturday’s first session of the 2022 EAGL Championships, but as the talk unfolded, it came in third behind George Washington University (196,325). , and Towson (196,075).
“The team did a fantastic job today. Getting the fourth highest score in school history and getting a podium after being the seventh seed is incredible.” sot Chef Trainer Josh Nilson. “I asked them to give everything they had, and they did! As a coach, she would not have asked for more from them.”
HOW IT WORKED
> Cherry and White led through the four rotations in Saturday’s early session as they shot 196,025, the second-best score of 2022 and just behind his school record of 196,675 set on Feb. 25 at NC State.
> The Owl combined for 12 9.8’s or better that day, just after the Feb. 25 meeting at NC State when they shot 16.
> At the end of the evening, Sophomore Brooke Donabedian and Senior Julianna Roland came in second place overall on the floor and vault, respectively.
The Donabedian came close to breaking the school record once again when she scored a 9,925, just .025 away from the school record score of 9,950 she set earlier in the season.
BAREN
> Temple came in after rotation one when they put together their fourth best score of the season, 48,975.
> Freshman Sarah Stallings led the way for Owls at the bars as she shot a 9,850, her sixth 9,800 or better score this season.
> Senior Ariana Castrence anchored the squad with a 9,800, also the sixth time this season she has scored a 9,800 or better.
> Freshman Hannah StallingsSenior Caitlin GrayDonabedian finished the Cherry and White scores with 9,775’s.
BEAM
The Owls received 48,975 for the second time in so many rotations, continuing to hold the other three teams, while a total of 97,950 after two rotations.
> Senior Ariana Castrence led the Beam team with a 9,875. The Waldorf, Md. born has now scored 9,800 or better in nine of the 11 meetings she has competed in this season.
> Of the six TU turners, the last four, including Donabedian, Hannah StallingsCastrence, and Roland all secured 9,800 or better in their routine.
> Donabedian got her fifth (9,825), Stallings her eighth in 12 meets (9,800), and Roland anchored the team with her sixth (9,800) 9,800 or better this season.
VAULT
> Julianna Roland led the owl to a 48,775 in the last rotation as she shot a 9,850, the eighth time this season she has shot a 9,800 or better on the Vault this year.
> In only their third meeting of the season competing on the device, senior Tori Edwards earns a season-high 9,775.
> Freshman Ann Hill shot 9,750, the fifth time this season she has scored a 9,775 or better mark.
> It was the second consecutive meet Hannah Stallings would shoot a 9,725, the eighth time in 13 meetings she had achieved that result.

> Temple finished with 10 at the 2022 All-EAGL tournament, including four on the first team at their respective events.
> Julianna Roland in the Brooke Donabedian led Temple with multiple selections.
> Roland (Vault), Sarah Stallings (Bars), Ariana Castrence (Trees), Donabedian (soil) all came away with honors from the first team.
> The Owls added six to the second team, including Donabedian (Beam), Hannah Stallings (Beem), Julianna Roland (Beem), Julianna Roland (Buedem), Tori Edwards (Buedem), an Renée Schugman (Buedem).
