Steph Curry optimistic, expects return to Warriors for NBA Playoffs

SAN FRANCISCO – Steph Curry, who has a walking boot on his left leg and a lightweight strap, remains an optimist.

So much so that he sounds confident in his ability to return to the Warriors at the very beginning of the NBA Playoffs.

“You do not want to rush the early stages of healing because that is where you get the most progress, so when you put the shoe back, get back on the court and reps, you do not have a crazy sore throat or anything and you go a better shot, “Curry said on Sunday evening as he spoke to the media for the first time since the injury.

Steph went on to avoid the word “careful”, but made it clear how important the start of his rehab will be to ensure there are no long-term problems. He would also not set an immediate deadline for when he will return. His response was still positive.

“I’m an optimist, so yeah,” Curry said when asked if he thought he would be back in time for the start of the playoffs.

Curry had a dead band in his left foot Wednesday night during the Warriors loss to the Boston Celtics. The game in which Curry was injured has been questioned and discussed by many. On Sunday evening, Curry was able to give his side of the story for the first time.

Unsurprisingly, he did not consider Marcus Smart’s dive to be a dirty game.

“He tried not to hurt me,” Curry said. “There’s a certain way he plays that I do not think many people would have played the game he did, but I do not think it was malicious or dirty or trying to hurt me. Like saying how he plays , is there a conversation just around should he or should not?

“It was not like he was looking at me and was like ‘I’m trying to hurt that dude. It’s basketball. “

The Warriors said on Friday that the curry will be revamped in two weeks, that would be April 1st. Including Sunday night against the San Antonio Spurs, the Warriors have 12 regular season games over the next three weeks.

The hope is that Curry could possibly play some of the last regular season games. All that matters though is the postseason.

At the moment, Curry says he can “do pretty much anything from my feet.” His left foot feels better by the day and his goal is to be on the court again sometime next week with his left gym shoe replacing his walking boots and a ball back in his hands as he continues on to basketball activities.

Curry’s injury makes him the last Warriors star to complete a season in which Golden State has sought an ounce of cohesion. As soon as Klay Thompson returned from injury, Draymond Green went down. Green is back now, but without Steph.

Historically, Curry has responded to injuries as a man on a mission. His mentality has not changed in his 13th season, and his mission remains the same – the playoffs, and especially a fourth championship ring.
