Lana Zak is the afternoon presenter and main weekend presenter of CBS News Streaming Network, CBS News’ mainstream 24-hour streaming news service. Lana is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, Edward R. Murrow, Peabody, Frontpage and DuPont.
On CBS, Lana has covered important news, such as the passage of Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg and the results of the 2020 election. New York City Mayor Andrew Yang and Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. Just before the second round of elections in Georgia, then-Senate candidate Jon Ossoff promised Lana that, regardless of the outcome, he would “accept the election results.” And after the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol, the James Clyburn house whip reached the headlines when he told Lana he believed the assault was “internal work.”
Lana joined CBS News from ABC News, where she was a member of the White House Press Corps. As a Washington correspondent, he covered the Trump and Obama administrations, Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Lana reported on all battlefield states before the election.
Lana began her career as a producing producer for Diane Sawyer, reaching the position of coordinating producer for ABC News Special Units. Lana’s work has appeared on all platforms, including broadcasts, radio, the press and digital. While producing for Bob Woodruff, Lana became the first woman in history to climb the barrels of George Washington’s iconic bridge.
Lana, a Fulbright and Truman Fellow, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism and mass communication from the University of Iowa, where she served as president of the student body. Lana holds a master’s degree in public policy, with a concentration in international security and political economy, from Harvard University.
Lana has lived in Korea, Spain and the USA. She has traveled to seven continents and lives in New York with her husband and her extremely curious children and twins.
